Description
Quick thinking by a security guard from Marina Martinique on Wednesday 23rd February 2011 lead to the arrest of two suspects accused of breaking into the Claptons complex at the Marina.
Mr Mabuti Morris Yekani was on foot patrol at the Marina Martinique when he noticed a white male and female crossing the wooden bridge at about 08H00. They were walking in the direction of town with an empty carrier bag.
About an hour later the same people passed by and asked for directions to the Aston Bay caravan park. The guard noticed that they were carrying bags full of clothes and other items.
The Marina guards were then informed of a break in at the Clapton’s units and that a gardener had noticed a white male and female at the crime scene.
Yekani immediately notified the Jeffreys Bay Police. The suspects were pointed out to the Police who arrested Walter DeVos Morkel (25 years old) and Sarah Thelma Lessing (28 years old) both from Jeffreys Bay.
The Police also confiscated property to the value of approximately R42 000 00. The complainant opened a case of housebreaking and theft at the Jeffreys Bay Police Station and positively identified his property.
